7. Mark Billiau.
As long as I remember, I’ve been addicted to nature. That’s why I spend all my free time in the great outdoors, to observe, to learn, to enjoy and relax. Everything that grows or lives in nature has my interest.
In my youth I was bitten by the photography virus and this brought me to what I am now : an enthousiastic and passionated nature and wildlife photographer.
With my images, I want to show the beauty of nature and I always give a bit of extra information to read about what is to see in the picture to make it interesting for the viewer.
Most of my pictures are taken with natural sun light. If possible, I always try to create some kind of small spotlight. Therefore I use 2 or 3 portable reflection screens to capture the sun light and to project it only on the main subject (such as a fungus in a dark forest). If that is not sufficient enough to my taste, then I add some extra light coming from a portable led light source.
Nearly all my pictures are made on ISO 100 with an underexposure of at least 1 stop. I always underexpose to avoid losing the highlights and afterwards adjust up a bit with digital editing.
I use quality equipment because I like images that are superbly coloured and very well detailed, that’s why I prefer Leica.
