A Great Owl (Caligo martia)
Great Owls fly only a few meters at a time, making them easy prey for predators. The eye patterns on their ventral side wings cause predators to believe that they are owl eyes that they are seeing, causing them to avoid these butterflies.
They are indigenous to Central and South America.
