Remnants of A Run for One's Life

This is the upper walkway in Battery Grubbs on Corregidor Island. All that is left are ruins and marks of where bullets hit during bombardment and attack during World War II. I imagine that a lot of soldiers ran for their lives thru this corridor... a brief respite from the hot sun that typically prevails in the tropical weather of the Philippines... and hopefully then a corridor to safety.

in this case, the story existed well before i had the opportunity to visit the place:-)
...and so i have learned that part of taking pictures is finding the opportunity and grabbing the moment.
