Scooter and Pergola - A Georgetown Impression

The wisteria-covered pergola is a feature of Francis Scott Key Memorial Park in Washington's Georgetown. From it, one can enjoy commanding views of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal below (*), as well as M Street NW, a major artery of the Georgetown community and the Key Bridge over the Potomac River. Looking in this direction, the view is toward the Ukrainian Embassy, which occupies the corner of M and 34th St NW.

Situated at the busy corner of M Street and the Key Bridge, the Park nonetheless offers benches on which to relax amidst the bustle, beds of flowers to provide welcome bursts of color and, of course, access to the bike and walking paths along both sides of the Canal as well as the cobblestoned byway of Cady's Alley with its cafés and design shops.
