About me

I was born about 1 month after the first atomic bomb was dropped to Hiroshima.
Took my first photos in 1958.
Began photography as serious hobby in 1962.
Became professional in 1965.
My favourite subject is people, but now in digi-era I shoot almost everything that moves or is still.
My artistic success here in Finland has been greater than my economical.
Since 2007 I have enjoyed the lifetime artists pension from the state of Finland. So I´m going to photograph at least for the next 50 years.

    Dear Karina

Thank You for Your comment(s). I think Your observation about my pictures is very right. Now when I look at the 13 pictures, that I have here (which in this connection are my best, I think) it is interesting to see, that 4 are from 70s, 2 from the beginning of 80s, and rest from 00s. There is over 20 years gap. The reason is, that during that 20 years I had a family, and had to take photography very seriously (make money by it). Now, when my daughters are adults, I can enjoy photography more freely. Actually it is about life, not photography. On the other hand the years with my family were the best of my life. I made my living mainly by magazine and advertising photography. People were my favourite subject. I have very ambitious homepages coming soon, with about 700 photos from my life and career.
I have also pictures in Blipfoto, which is very interesting site. The address of my file is: www.blipfoto.com/darsa.

Looking through Your pictures I like the portraits most.

About photography as profession and lifestyle: In my 42 years career I haven´t had two similar days. Most have been quite normal, even dull, some have been very bad, but the good days, well, then I forget all the not so good days.
But there are easier ways to make Your living. But depending on Your talent and enthusiasm photography might be the best way to express yourself and enjoy life. I think You know it.

    Yours

    Jussi Aalto

By the way I've been to Finland (Lapland) in 2006, to Greece (Kos & Crete) in 2007 and to Russia (St.Petersburg) in 2008. It's like i'm following your route.
Thought it was funny to mention.
    cheers,
    Karina

Hi there Jussi, welcome to the fotocommunity! :-)
The idea of fotocommunity is to give beginners, amateurs and professionals a place to share their passion for photography.
You can view and comment the work of others, you can upload your own work to share it and get comments from other people around the world, and you can discuss or ask about anything you might want to know about our common interests.

One of the admins, Dirk Hofmann, wrote a tutorial for new members, and I recommend you take a look at it. It helped me a lot when I joined:
